Psychology is an applied science that, in addition to theoretical knowledge, has significant implications for daily life. Foremost among these applied areas are psychological assessment, interviewing, psychological testing, and psychotherapy, all of which are associated with clinical psychology—one of the field’s traditional sub-disciplines.
During their undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral education, our students take practice-oriented courses alongside their theoretical instruction. These include courses such as Observation and Interview Techniques, Observation and Interview Applications, Psychological Tests I and II, Clinical Psychology Applications I and II, Intelligence Assessment, Practice in Psychology, and Research and Supervision I and II.
The Applied Psychology Laboratory, established within our department, is primarily designed for students to conduct test applications, psychological interviews, and psychotherapy sessions with volunteer participants within the scope of these courses. These applications are carried out under the strict supervision of faculty members, with the utmost care given to ethical principles, particularly confidentiality. Through this process, the aim is for students to put the theoretical knowledge acquired during their education into practice and to reinforce these practical skills.
The Applied Psychology Laboratory contributes to the development of our students as competent and well-equipped individuals, ensuring they possess the necessary knowledge and skills and have adopted ethical principles upon graduation. Additionally, this laboratory serves as a suitable and specialized environment for researchers at various levels to conduct scientific studies in the field of psychology.
